Partitioning is known as a useful feature in very large databases, but how many people realize that it absolutely crucial to scalability and performance in data warehouses? The question, of course, is *why* is partitioning so crucial as well as *how* partitioning facilitates scalability and performance. All of the useful features for data warehousing in Oracle Database are facilitated by partitioning in a cycle described in the presentation as the "virtuous cycle".
